Since 2020, Valmorel has hosted the Grande Odyssée for a stage linking Valmorel to Doucy, with mid-distance stages of between 30 and 45km per day.
Since its first edition in January 2005, La Grande Odyssée VVF has been Europe's annual sled dog event. It is the most demanding stage race in an Alpine setting that is unique in the world.
Every year, it brings together more than 25 mushers and their 400 top-level athlete dogs from all over Europe, in the superb landscapes of Savoie Mont Blanc.
On the day's programme:
Valmorel:
- Activities with the Valmorel musher Espades Nordiques
- Film screenings at the cinema
- Carriage driving for children with Escapades Nordiques
- Acrobatic paragliding demonstration with Eliot Nochez
- Departure of the carriages around 4.30pm or 5pm. (to be confirmed according to route)
Doucy :
- Nordic entertainment all day
- Films shown in the escape room
- Arrival of the first mushers at 6.19pm, followed by the podium at 7.15pm.
