Route without major difficulty to leave for the day to discover the typical villages of Avanchers.
It can be done by trained walkers as well as active families, but is not recommended for novice walkers or those who do not have a minimum condition because of its length. Half of the route takes place in the forest, in the shade of the trees, and the other half on open paths exposed to the sun through the flowery meadows.
The Avancheraine begins at the heart of the Valmorel resort, at 1340m, at the tree-top level, just after crossing the Morel by a bridge.
The start of the route is mainly in the forest until Plan Parc. You successively cross several clearings after passing the Agorespace. Admire the panoramic view of the Morel valley and the La Lauzière massif when you arrive at the vast Plan Parc meadow (1425 m). Then descend by Ormay (1377 m) on a wide path, and fork on the right in the forest to reach the hamlet of Fey-Dessus (970 m) via a small path from the Combe d'en Haut (1240 m).
From there, you gradually ascend to Valmorel by a path through woods and meadows. You cross the village of Avanchers (1080 m) with its fountains, its narrow streets and its Baroque church, then the Morel torrent, before going up to Lancheverne (1208 m).
The path then rises a little more to bring you back to the hamlet of Fontaine, at the entrance to the Valmorel resort.
